Visit our local treasures!! ‘Mosport International Raceway’ hosts weekly stock car racing, and Cedar Park offers supervised public swimming with giant waterslides and a championship miniature golf course. Of course, there are plenty of other local attractions highlighted below.

– Mosport International Raceway 

     A world renowned racing facility lies just north of Bowmanville hosting weekly events (Saturday night stock car racing) to annual weekend events consisting of major North American Championships. Mosport offers a variety of racing on both a local and international level. Our season runs from May to October. Race weekends provide a fun, exciting outing for the family including camping.

– Ganaraska Forest  Offering the best in outdoor recreation fun. Close to 11,000 acres of forest are waiting to be explored. The Ganaraska Forest can provide year round pleasure for you or your family : Cross-Country Skiing, Snowmobiling, Mountain Bicycling, Nature Walking Trails, Horseback Riding, Off-Road / ATV Trails (Forest Membership or Day Pass Required).

– Archibald Orchards & Winery

     40 acre Family Farm & Estate Winery located in a picturesque setting just 10 minutes north of Hwy 401. Visit our winery boutique and sample award-winning wines. Starting early September, taste crisp apples right from the tree, pies still warm from the oven and cider fresh off the press. Enjoy children’s play area or take a “narrated” wagon ride.

– Tyrone Mills

     In operation since 1846, this working, water powered mill houses a store where homemade jams, stone ground wheat flour, maple syrup, honey and cheese as well as lumber, lumber products and custom milling are available. During apple season in September until June, the mill also produces fresh apple cider and cider donuts. An antique woodworking shop is located on the second floor.

– Durham Central Agricultural Fair

Orono Fairgrounds

     The fun begins on Thursday with our Hometown Celebration. Enjoy half price admission and all midway rides for a buck! The next three days are filled with excitement: Demolition Derby, Truck & Tractor Pull, Livestock Shows, Horsemanship Trials, Cake Auctions, Vintage Tractors and an arena full of displays and crafts. Take 401 east to Hwy 35/115 and go north to the Orono exit.

– Bowmanville Zoo

     An exotic animal adventure awaits you at Canada’s Oldest Zoo. The new AnimaTheatre will impress you! Learn the skills & secrets of training animals for Hollywood Films. Meet the magnificent Black Jaguar, Baghera, star of Peter Benchley’s AMAZON. Discover majestic elephants, zebras, camels, lions, tigers and so much more. Continuous educational encounters and shows will make for an unforgettable day.

The Zoo is the oldest privately owned zoo in North America, established in 1919. Also, the zoo is famous for its animal actors, Baongo the Lion and Angus the Elephant.

– Pingles Fun Farm

In season we grow bedding plants, pick your own strawberries, apples, fall raspberries and pumpkins. Our market features fresh produce, our own jams & preserves, crafts and gifts and our farm fresh bakery. The play area features a straw jump and farm animals. Harvest festival weekends in September and in October – Pingles Pumpkin Fun Weekend activities for the whole family including wagon rides and puppet theatre. In October we have a haunted hayride and boo barn. New for 2000, look for millennium mega maze in September.
